At the Lightman Tennis Center, we offer specialized training programs designed for young tennis players who show potential and aspire to compete at higher levels, such as regional, national, or even professional tournaments. We offer intensive coaching, physical conditioning and mental training tailored to the needs of junior players. Junior Academy is a great option for those who wish to advance their game to a competitive level and/or pursue careers in tennis.

A few reminders:

  • Each class has a limited number of spots. Priority is given to students who sign up for the full 3 week session.

  • You may register per week, per 3 week session, or the entire 6 week session over the summer schedule.

  • If spots are available, drop-in players are welcome.

  • Classes are subject to change due to the high school season. If a class is canceled, it will be made up at the end of the session.

UNIVERSAL TENNIS RATING

Junior Academy has four major levels (Elite, Premier, Beginners), two of which use the Universal Tennis Rating system in order to promote high level practices for drilling. If you do not have a rating, you must be evaluated to be placed in the proper group. We want to make sure your child is in the correct class to get the most enjoyment and skill development during their session. HOW TO REGISTER

Register using the button below. To receive the pro-rated discount, you must pay the whole session price BEFORE your child attends the first day of class. Pay by check, cash, or Venmo @Daniel-Shidler. You may pay using the “Business and Services” feature, but a 2.1% charge will be rendered if you choose to do so.

ELITE JUNIOR ACADEMY GROUP (16 SPOTS) – Standard UTR rating: 4.0 and up

Designed for high level tournament players who play events 1-3 times a month and have a rating of 4.0 or higher.

PREMIER JUNIOR ACADEMY GROUP (16 SPOTS) – Standard UTR rating: 1.5-3.9

Designed for the school players or up-and-coming tournament players who want to work on their skills and strategies to advance to the next level or prep for the upcoming school season.

BEGINNERS JUNIOR ACADEMY GROUP (8 SPOTS) – No UTR needed (AGES 8 AND UP)

Designed for the players who want to improve their abilities and be introduced to positions on the court, basic strategies, and an understanding of the game so they can play more often.
